Food Chain and Predators
Published: 2025-01-20 · Updated: 2025-06-01
In nature, an ant is rarely the top of the food chain. Spiders, beetles, birds, and even other ants attack them. The simulation models a tiny slice of that pressure — and lets the player disrupt it.
Predators in the simulation
Spiders hunt stragglers. Beetles charge the nest. Both can be driven away with the player's "drive" tool, but doing so costs attention. Let too many ants die, and the colony fails.
Acid rain as a force of nature
Acid rain is a periodic event. It washes away pheromone trails and damages ants caught outside. The colony cannot fight it — it must simply survive.
How to use this knowledge
In higher levels, managing food, walls, and predators at the same time is the entire game. Use the knowledge page to plan your next run.
